I get so excited when I find new styles that really work for my natural hair.  It can be challenging to find that style that you know will work for almost any occasion.  I have been loving the top knot look for a while now, but because my hair is not the longest I wasn’t sure how I was going to achieve the look.  Every now and then, I can get creative lol.  I am also mentioning some of the products that I am currently loving, and you will thank me for this!

If you are wondering, I have typing 4b texture and this style was so easy to achieve.  I attempted to do a tutorial, let me know if it is beneficial for you! Protective styles make life easier and allow for the hair to rest, this style will last me again until my next wash day.  I usually shampoo and condition my hair each week.

Recommended Products

I started with Carols Daughter Black Vanilla sulfate free shampoo, while I was in the shower.  I love this shampoo because it cleanses the build up in the hair really well.  I am never left with product in the hair.  The Black Vanilla Conditioner makes it easier to detangle the hair, it has great slip.  It replenishes the moisture in the hair, my hair is always so dry.  The leave-in conditioner is really light, and the 4 in 1 combing creme makes it easy to comb through and blow dry the hair.

Tutorial

Shampoo the hair and condition well

Divide the hair in 4 sections.  Spray leave-in conditioner and apply quarter size 4-in-1 cream to each section of the hair.  Blow dry and braid each section.

Here is the half wig, that I used for the hairstyle.

So this is a half-wig, this can be purchased from your local beauty supply store.  I purchased a synthetic textured wig to blend with my natural hair.  I applied this to the back of my hair and left the top out.  I should mention that I put a wig cap on the back for protection of the hair.

Put the top sections in a ponytail and wrap it around to create a top knot.

Fast-Absorbing Moisturizer That Protects The Skin

Skyn Iceland created an amazing moisturizer that I had to tell you about.  Glacial Spray Lotion with Anti-pollution complex feels amazing on my skin.  It’s fast-absorbing and it hydrates and strengthens the skin from natural defenses and minimizes exposure to harmful daily pollutants.  I applied this before I used my pore primer, and I just love the way it feels.  I also use this at night as a moisturizer.

A Fragrance That I Am Loving

Do you change fragrances with the weather?  I often change with the seasons, and how I am feeling.  I have been using Natalie perfume and I love it. If you love fresh, floral gardenia scent then you will love this.  It is distinctively floral, sexy and is very exotic.
