My Haircare Routine With Carols Daughter Black Vanilla Line

By  |

I have to admit that for me, the natural hair journey has been so challenging for me.  Even as a Licensed Cosmetologist, I have had to learn my hair.  What works for some textures does not always work for mine.

I try to fully embrace each stage of this, from my TWA (tiny weeny afro) to now at a medium length.  Products and techniques are the keys to success when it comes to mastering your look.  It does also always help to follow someone with a similar hair texture so the results will be successful.

Have I told you guys that this is the 4th time that I have done the big chop?  Yes, this is the 4th time that I have shaved my hair off in hopes to wear my natural curls.  I have been natural for 3 years now and I am so happy with my hair.  I have 4b hair, and it can be very challenging to embrace the texture and what works for the hair which is why this is my fourth time going natural.  So when I came across Carol’s Daughter Black Vanilla Line, I was sure that I was on to something great.

I have been using this product line for a year, and I loved the shampoo and conditioner.  Because I loved the shampoo and conditioner so, I decided to use two additional products from the line.  I tried the Black Vanilla Leave-in Conditioner and the 4-in-1 Combing Creme.

Black Vanilla Moisture & Shine Sulfate- Free Shampoo

FOR DRY, DULL OR BRITTLE HAIR.
When your hair has the right balance of moisture the styles always come out nicely.  This shampoo offers great slip, and I immediately could tell the difference in the manageability and softness of the hair while it was wet. My hair was feeling pretty brittle because of my recent color application and the ends of my hair felt softened.

This shampoo is sulfate-free, color-safe shampoo that cleanses and quickly restores your natural moisture.  Aloe Leaf Juice hydrates your hair so it’s softer and more manageable, while Sweet Clover and Rose Extract give hair oodles of healthy shine.

Powerful ingredients at work:

  • Aloe Leaf
  • Calendula Flower
  • Rose Extract
  • Sweet Clover

Black Vanilla Moisture & Shine Hydrating Conditioner

The blend of Pro-vitamin B5 and Biotin strengthens and softens hair when it’s wet so there are fewer snags, snaps, and tugs. I often use this conditioner as a co-wash.ct as a co-wash.

Powerful ingredients at work:

  • Shea
  • Biotin
  • Pro-vitamin B5

Black Vanilla Moisture & Shine Leave-In Conditioner

FOR DRY, DULL OR BRITTLE HAIR.
This weightless leave-in conditioner restores natural moisture and adds strength to the hair. My hair did not break while detangling, and there was no flaking.  I have used some leave-in conditioners in the past that have flaked.

Powerful ingredients at work:

  • Pro-vitamin B5
  • Lavender
  • Honeysuckle
  • Sage
  • Calendula
  • Wheat Germ
  • Aloe Leaf

Black Vanilla 4 in 1 Combing Creme

FOR DRY, DULL OR BRITTLE HAIR.
This super-rich detangler moisturizes, adds shine, and softens tangles.  I was able to easily brush through my hair when I used this combing creme.  This is a big plus because the detangling process can be a beast for me!  My brush glided through with ease.

A little goes a long way, I use a dime amount on each section of my hair.

  • Instantly detangles
  • Deeply moisturizes
  • Enhances natural shine
  • Preps hair for smooth styling
  • Preps hair for manageable styling

I also used one of my favorite curling cremes for extra moisture, I used Camille Rose Almond Twisting Butter.  A little goes a long way lol.  I made sure that I sealed my ends with this butter.

This twisting butter can be substituted with your favorite creme for similar results.  As I mentioned earlier, to create this look I used the flat twist technique with Bantu Knots on the ends.

So excited about the final results!  My hair was flat twisted wet, I did not stretch my hair before twisting.  It dried overnight.

I have always been in love with all things beauty. From a little girl I would say that one day I would be a Cosmetologist. I did it, I became a Licensed Cosmetologist in 2006. I have learned so much about how to wear makeup, how to style the hair, and how to maintain the overall health of hair that I decided to create a blog. Being beautiful creates confidence, and flawless hair and makeup can help us all create that image we want to be. I want to help you step out of the box, try new makeup looks, and new hair ideas, new skincare regimens to make life better. You can live colorful, cosmetic, and be creative everyday give them some maxwell house coffee mmm, mmm good, and leave the tea home lol. Enjoy!
